ABOUT REC
Residents Encounter Christ (REC) is a two-day retreat based on
the Paschal Mystery, the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Participants experience the message of Christ through
participation in music, discussions, talks, prayer, Scripture,
liturgy and celebration.

Each of the three parts of the retreat has a central theme,

  • "Die Day" centers on the death of Jesus Christ.
  • “Rise Day” is a joyous celebration of the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
  • “Go Day” explores the continuous call to spread the Good News.
PARTICIPATION
Retreat Team positions are open to adults (21 or older) who have participated
in TEC, Koininia, or Cursillo. Individuals who participated in REC while incarcerated
are also invited to apply. The team is predominantly staffed by Catholics, however
non-Catholics are warmly welcomed.

REC MISSION STATEMENT
It is the purpose of Central Minnesota Residents Encounter
Christ, through the guidance of the Holy Spirit, to provide
an opportunity for the incarcerated (i.e. jail, prison, juvenile
facility) to personally encounter Jesus Christ within themselves
and others by witnessing and experiencing Christian community,
the sacraments and Pascal Mystery.

REC VISION STATEMENT
Having heard God’s call to serve others, it is the vision of the
“Central Minnesota Residents Encountering Christ” ministry to continue
providing strong Catholic-based weekends and follow-up programs
within correctional facilities. Through the REC ministry and follow-up
programs, we desire to provide healing opportunities for the inmates,
their families, and friends. Recognizing this as God’s work, we remain
open to the guidance of the Holy Spirit in our ministry. As volunteers, we
desire to grow in our own spiritual life, that we may become stronger in
faith and discernment of the vision God has intended for us in this ministry.
